A resident of Bakhmut, Oleksandr Sotnikov, filmed the frozen lake in the Stupky neighborhood using a drone. The lake formed on the site of a former salt mine.

It happened just a few months before the open invasion by the Russian army, in 2021. Today, Stupky is occupied by the Russians, almost all buildings have been bombed, the infrastructure has been destroyed, and all the residents have either evacuated or been deported.
